Comparing Two Lists, Zeroing out

0

Is there a formula to compare two lists of DIFFERENT numbers, and excel will find 2 or more numbers from list one to zero out a number from list two or vice versa? Thank you. For example If list one is 1,2,3,4,5, and list two is 7,8,9,10 say, I need 2 & 5 (or 3 & 4) to cancel out 7.

Hi Austin and welcome to the Forum

Not sure what your question means, sorry. For example i list one is 1,2,3,4,5, and list 2 is 7,8,9,10 say, do you need 2 & 5 (or 3 & 4) to cancel out 7?

Please edit your original question to clarify and use the Add Files... button to upload a representative Excel file (without any personal data) to show your existing data (and any macros). Then we should be able to give specific help.

Thanks for revising your question but currently I can't think of a formula that does that (and I assume you don't know VBA). What kind of numbers are you trying to match (an Excel file would help, as I said) and why do you want to match/cancel?

I have added an example. Obviously, all of them won't cancel, because the totals are over 2,000,000 off. I am trying to trim down the list with the higher total so that way I can find the issue in the original list that I exported this data from. Thank you.

Thanks for the file but the relationship between the two columns is a mystery to me! Is column B meant to be subtotals from A or something?

In terms of finding the differences, I doubt your suggested appraoch will work/  help (e.g. if there are two ore more combinations adding to a value in column B).  It might be better to returnto the raw data you exported.
