Hi

Whenever I open an excel sheet, the data in cells are shown in currency format by default. Can we change this to show data in General format?

If you only want to change some cells (rows or columns), you just have to select them, right click and pick Format Cells... then pick General (or another format) and click okay.

If you want all the cells in each new workbook you open to have the general format, then set the template to suit... Oopen a fresh workbook, click the first sheet the shift click the last sheet (this selects all sheets). Then click the corner down-right arrow between column and row headings (circled red below) and do the Format thing above. That sets all cells to General (or your choice).

Pick Save, name the file Book but pick the Save As Type as Excel Template .xtlx. Then navigate to the Excel startup folder (in your case probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14) and click Save.

Hope this works for you.
