ThereĀ is a lot of very very good code for this on the Internet, ready to run and coming with detailed instructions. Ever better solutions evolved from about 2010 and then abruptly ended in 2016. When you try to implement them you will start to wonder why.

The reason is that Yahoo stopped supporting them. You used to be able to make a list of stock symbols and download the quotes for them daily or hourly or even by the minute. In 2016 (or was it 2018? - not sure) Yahoo stopped. The beautiful solution are still on the web but they don't work anyore. Yahoo installed powerful anti-scraping measures, such as codes, embedded in the URL, which change by a secret algorythm.

The best solution I found is the Stock Connector app provided free (they ask for voluntary contributions of $20). It's easy to install in Excel and works beautifully and trouble-free. The only drawback is that it's US-centered. Stock quotes from the rest of the world are available scantily at best - incomparable with what Yahoo offers.
