Hello orkrj,

Going to need some more information to be able to provide a possible solution.
Are the buttons Form Control type, Active X type or a Shape with a macro assigned to it?
If you could provide a sample file that shows this condition would be very helpful in understanding your problem.
It's possible that there is another routine (macro) running in the background which is preventing the button from "working" with one click. The routine (macro) assigned to the button you are clicking won't be allowed to run until the backgroung macro is finished.

Cheers   :-)

In addition to the possibilities suggested by Wilkie above, a VBA procedure may be based on the worksheet BeforeDoubleClick event. More infomation is needed, as Willie says.
