HELP WITH A FRUSTRATING EXCEL PROBLEM

0

I am really frustrated and need to be pointed in the right direction. The question is: How do i change the Excel display language from French to English? The first thing I did was to YouTube the question. The instructions are all essentially the same as yours.

Changing your Excel display language from French to English is straightforward. For Windows (Excel 2016, 2019, 2021, and Microsoft 365). What I have is Microsoft 365.

1.      1  Open Excel document and click on the Fichier (File) tab in the top-left corner. This I can do.

Sel2. Select Options at the bottom of the left-hand menu. The Options are shown but they are greyed out.

2.      3. In the pop-up window, click on Langue (Language). Because options are greyed out I cannot proceed.

3.      4. Under the Langue d'affichage d'Office (Office display language) section:  If Anglais [English] is already in the list, select it and click Définir comme langue préférée (Set as Preferred).

4.      5. If it is NOT listed, click Ajouter une langue... (Add a language), choose Anglais, and click Installer.

5.      6. Restart Excel for the changes to take effect.

6.      Below is a screen shot of the File tab in Excel. There is an Options shown at the bottom but it is greyed out.

Hi ldkamb and welcome to the Forum.

Sadly we can't see your screenshot (since only Excel files can be uploaded here).

I no longer have  Microsoft 365 but if the options are ghosted out, the issue may be:

  1. You are working with a protected worksheet or workbook (in which case open a new workbook and try again) or
  2. Your 365 subscription isn't activated or has expired  (so a licensing issue).

If you get the options and add /select English, you'll need the button equivalent to "Set as preferred" I think.

Hppe this helps a little.

Incidentally, next time please don't write your Question subject in all CAPS - it feels like you're shouting at us!

@John
It seems like you and I have helped another couple of posters who can't be bothered to let us know if their issue is solved from the help we have given; nor express their appreciation and thanks for the help. Although frustrating, like yourself, I will continue to offer help where I can.

Cheers   :-)

@Willie

Sorry but a busy couple of days meant I've only just seen your comment (with which I agree). I guess more users don't feel the need to respond in any way these days, especially if they normally get answers from AI bots. Let's carry on regardless ( a real sentinent but a song lyric too :--)

P s. I haven't had email alerts to  comments or answer selections for two or three years now and the decimated traffic doesn't motivate me to check too often.
