How to transfer data automatically from google sheets to Exc

0

Hi all,

I have understood that there is a way to create a link between a google sheets doc and an Excel file so that data inputed into google sheets can be automatically updated in real-time to the Excel file.

For what I've seen online, there is a way to do this by clicking on the 'data' tab on excel, then on 'From Web'.

However, on my Excel 2016 version which I am using on a Macbook Pro, it does not come up with the option 'From Web' The only option is 'From HTML' which doesnt then give you the option to link to a web URL.

(A bit of background is that we need to use Google Sheets on our phone to access information, but want it to link to excel for a more detailed analysis etc on our laptop. Our phone is no longer compatible with the MC Excel App and I don't want to use a third-party app, I'd rather have the google sheets feeding directly in to Excel)

Thank you in advance for your time! I am probably missing something very simple but my Excel knowledge is still basic...

Hi again Soumbrero.

To do that, you'll need to use some advanced techniques (e.g. Power Query) and -from your discussions on uour earlier question- I'm not sure you're ready for that just yet!

Let's get that one sorted first (I just revised my Answer) then move on to more complicated stuff.
