Creating graphs based on start and end dates

0

Hello all,

I receive information about planned projects (name of the project, start and end date, impact factor and strategy category), which are entered into an excel sheet.

A separate tab should show the project as a graph showing the duration over the year. The graph should change automatically whenever the start or end date is changed.

Ideally, the graph should also be displayed in the colour I assigned to each Strategy Category. Can I use conditional formatting between different tabs of an excel sheet?

Would that be possible in excel? I have attached an example which I have currently done manually.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Ines

Hi Ines and welcome to the Forum

In the project world, the type of graph in the file is called a Gantt Chart.

Don has produced a tutorial which should do what you all want, it's in the Tutorials section of this site, here: Create Gantt Chart in Excel Easily (you'd need to replace Tasks in the tutorial with your Projects). Making one in colour is possible but quite involved.

Hope this helps. If so, please remember to mark this answer as Selected (for the guidance of others and to increase our individual Reputations on the Forum)...

Extra for you- Gantt chart templates are covered in a new tutorial in Don's recent newsletter email, see the first part of 3 Excel Worksheets to Never Start from Scratch!
