While waiting for a forum response, a friend who uses Excel every day, said "oh, that is the Ruler"  Go to VIEW, click on Page Layout and then remove the checkmark for Ruler. Of course they had the advantage of seeing the problem up close. Problem solved.

Okay, glad you got it solved. I did wonder if you meant the ruler but you made no mention of gradations on the "line"and normally we'd refer to "row numbers" in the worksheet, not line numbers.

Good luck learning Excel- Don has some great lessons to help you- see the Tutorials link near the top of the page.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

I don't have Excel 2007 any more but -if you are referring to line numbers against VBA code lines (in VB Project Explorer)- then  "...the vertical line to the left..." sounds like the margin.

In Excel 365, the margin can be enabled or disabled by using the meni items Tools / Options / Editor Format then ticking or unticking the option Margin Indicator Bar.

If that isn't what you mean (or you're referring to row numbers at a sheet level, say) please edit your question and use the Add Files... button to upload a representative Excel file (without any personal data) to show your existing macro and data and use tecxt/ arrows to point to what you mean (noting that you can NOT upload image files in this Forum). Then we may be able to give specific help.
