Excel 2013 filters not working

0

The filters on my spreasheet are in the 3rd row, and show the filtering dropdown.

When I click on the filter downdrop arrow to  select some information, only an empty cell appears as the choice.

I also noticed that the dropdown arrow symbol appears to be duplicated, like one behind another.

Interestingly enough, when I create a copy of the spreadsheet (right click on the tab name ► select "Move or Copy" ► check the "Select a copy" box ► In the "Move selected sheets to Book:" dropdown, I select ""(new book)".

When the new workbook is created, it does not have the issue described above.

I have looked through the web and tried the miriad of suggestiona for various days to no avail.

I'd appreciate your help.

Edit your question and upload a sample file - that's the easiest way to help on this. If you need to, you can replace the current data in your worksheet with dummy-data before you upload it and I'm guessing it should still show the issue.

I would like to know how you set the filter and whether you can remove and reset it, perhaps reset it in a different way.

Strange thing! I have tried everything in the past 7 months, including the above suggestion.
As I was going to create a copy of the worksheet to reply to this thread, I saw that all of the filter dropdowns were not just selected but each had the look of when you select objects! I wish I could have taken a screen shot to send you. I don't  know how this happened, but the very next thing I did was to click on delete (since all the filter arrows were selected)  and now all is fixed.
