Automatic Timestamp VBA not working on mobile

0

Watched the video on this, which is great by the way, and downloaded the spreadsheet, however after putting a slightly modified of your code into my spreadsheet the code updates correctly when I'm on my main computer but doesn't work if I make a change on my mobile. Is there a spreadsheet formula which would achieve the same result

I guess this depends upon the software you run on your phone. It can't be Excel because there isn't a version of Excel for mobile phones.

I use Excel2016 on my main computer and Office365 on mobile

Does it work when you use the normal non-modified version of the code?

After doing some searching on this it would appear that NO vba will work on mobiles, sorry for wasting your time. However, is there a formula that would work

My understanding is that WIN 10 was especially developed to work on both mobile devices and PCs, with the expressed expectation that the latter would be replaced by the former in the not too distant future. Therefore your expectation should be right in line with Microsoft's ambitions. Of course, their expectation is that you would use Windows 10 on your mobile device. Please let us know what you find out.

This is above my brain grade but apparently the mobile is running Android with Office Mobile. Hope that makes sense to someone

Thanks for the feedback, Chris. Your information makes sense but that will be of little help to you, if any. Every computer needs an operating system. There are 3 major operating system + Linux. They are Microsoft's Windows, Apple's iOS and Google's Android. Google is the most popular because they give it free to the hardware builders.
Apps can only run on an operating system they know how to use. You may remember that MS refused for many years to create an Office (including Excel) version that could run on iOS. They relented but to my knowledge they still refuse to supply one for Android. So Google made something similar and gives it away for free.
And that's where you are caught. Google's VBA is both much less developed than MS' and technically different. Personally, I stay away from trying to use VBA on iOS (Macs) because there are both glitches and differences but it works for most people. For Android no claims are made by anyone.
Get a phone that runs on Windows and then complain to Microsoft if you find something that doesnt work :-). However, I think I'm too pessimistic. MS, like Apple, have staked their reputation on the portability of their operating systems, and what you are trying to do is precisely what they have in mind to enable - but not on their competitors' OS.
