Read Only even on local files

0

ALL Excel files are being saved as Read Only even if just saved to the local hard drive.  This is protection gone wild! A file I update periodically during the day becomes read-only immediately when saved to my hard disk.  The updated version then must be a different name and the old manually deleted and the new one renamed. Bogus engineering!

No resonable work around in sight.

Look at the properties of the folder into which you save the files and at the permissions to write to that folder granted to you. The problem solved here appears similar and you may draw inspiration from it. In that case the origin of the sudden change was related to Sharing but it could have been any major change affecting drive and folder access.
