i have a series of number in a cell let say 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 . now i want to separate them by giving certain values like if there are 1,6,10 these three should come out separately in different cell , 2,7,11 these three come together out in different cell , and 5,9 comes in different cell, similarly 3,4 separately and 8,12 separately. i mean i want a output like this 1,6, 10 IN ONE CELL   2,7,11 IN ANOTHER CELL      5,9  IN ANOTHER CELL      3,4  IN ANOTHER CELL    8,12 IN ANOTHER CELL . please help how to do it with a formula.

your question must include the rules by which the numbers for each cell are to be selected in a generic way, like “1st, 5th, and 9th character (or word, separated by commas)”. Please modify your question to include that information.

First off, it would be best to upload an example.  Are the numbers separaged by commas? Spaces? No Spaces? it is unclear from your description above. Secondly, depending on the numbers are laid out, perhaps they can be Delimited so they each have their own column?m then the task could be easier (in a cell to the right of Delimited values create a formula to see if those pairings are within the could be much lenghtier to explain.  OR vba may be able to search for the combinations and place them in Columns to the right of original cell.



This isn’t an “Answer” because it doesn’t solve the problem. In fact, it doesn’t even address the problem. That may be because the question doesn’t describe the problem sufficiently. But that realisation makes this reply even less of an Answer.

Varitas Are you jealous or something? What is your problem??? I'm requesting additional info to help solve the problem. You do realize that there isn't enough info to go forward with without MAJOR assumptions.  Come on now, I thought we were all trying to SOLVE problems. Come down off your high and mighty horse for a moment or two and put your feet on real Earth.  Nice job!  It is OBVIOUSLY NOT an answer but I'm sure glad that even you are able to point this out!  Nice forum

Guys relax, we don't need to be downvoting for incorrect usage or format or for small things like that. This forum should be a nice and Friendly place to come to help people our and get some answers, not strife ;P.

Variatus, I'm sure we can offer constructive thoughts without putting people down. I'm not thin-skinned, but people will tend to help less if they think they might be berated for it, even if they do make a small mistake.
