Learn how to build an interactive image lookup dashboard in Microsoft Excel that can return product details and pictures from a searchable database. In this tutorial, you'll create a professional inventory system using images stored directly inside Excel cells, image URLs, lookup formulas, and dynamic dashboard results.

This also includes a unique way of using the FILTER function in Excel.

You'll see how to build the source data layer, insert images into cells, import image data using a CSV text trick, and return several matching fields with a single FILTER function lookup. I'll also show you how to display a much larger image outside the original table, use an alternative image display technique, and finish the dashboard with professional formatting and rounded corners.

This type of Excel image database can be adapted for:

  • Used-car inventory
  • Product catalogs
  • Employee directories
  • Real-estate listings
  • Equipment databases
  • Collectibles and asset tracking

Topics covered include:

  • Pictures in Cells in Excel
  • Excel image lookup formulas
  • Returning images with the FILTER function
  • Building a dynamic Excel dashboard
  • Importing image URLs from CSV files
  • Returning multiple filter lookup results
  • Creating large linked image displays
  • Professional dashboard formatting

The data next to the image is referred to as meta data.

This tutorial is designed for Microsoft Excel 365 and shows how images can function as real data inside a worksheet, allowing them to be searched, filtered, referenced, and returned with formulas.
