I have the code which filters my spreadsheet and copies that dataset but I think I need to add an IF that skips the copy line when the criteria is not met. Any ideas?

I am puzzled by a thin black line (that looks like a border line) on a spreadsheet that I am unable to remove, whatever I do. It starts halfway across column B and stops just at the end of column Z.
It is not a border line.
It is not a page break.
If I delete the rows it appears on it remains visible.
It is not an object floating on top of the spreadsheet.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

hi,
I would like a formula that would list all the items in row B that match the criteria in row A. the first cell with formula would list the first item, the second cell with the formula would list the next item, and so forth. Also, column B might have a duplicates that should be listed. Is this possible? I cannot manipulate the order of the original items (ie, filters) because this data is being used to derive other formulas.

Hi there,
I am currently using 'Activecell.Offset(1,0).Select' to move down one cell at a time when I click on a button.
The problem I have now is that if someone was to filter by something then the 'next cell down' could be hidden behind the filter (by that I mean it didn't meet the filter criteria).
Is there anyway to move down to the next row, even if that row does not follow on Sequentially .
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
James

Is it possible to apply a filter to multiple sheets within the same Excel workbook, using the same filter criteria?
For example, suppose you have tables of data on 3 different tabs, all having the same headings. Suppose one of the headings is "gender". If you apply a filter to the table on Sheet 1, to only show the rows containing the word "female", is it possible to have the tables on Sheets 2 and 3 automatically update to only show the "female" rows? Or would you have to manually update the filter criteria in Sheets 2 and 3?
I hope this makes sense. Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi,
I use filters a lot at my work. One thing I've noticed is that if I have something filtered and want to copy and paste only what I see from one column to another column right next to it, it will copy what is filtered, but then paste into the unfiltered portion.
Is there some way to copy only what I see when it's filtered, THEN paste only onto the adjancent cells which is also filtered?
For example let's say i have each of the number below in a cell (Fig 1). And then I hide rows 2 3, so only 1 and 4 is showingI only see 1 & 4 in column A. I want to copy and paste 1 and 4 to the next column over one row so it looks like Fig. 2 when unhidden. Not like Fig. 3.

I have a spreadsheet that when I copy the formula, it copies correctly
(changes the cells it should subtract), however, the result stays the same.
It matches the formula I copied it from, even though the cells to calculate
are now different. I even did a paste special and said only formula, but
still, same result. If I actually type in the formula, it works fine, but I
have a lot I need to copy and paste. Is there a way I can fix this?
Thanks,

Hi Guys
I have the following in G2:
=VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet1!A:D,4,FALSE)
The formula returns the correct result, which in this case is a number 2
When I fill down my range, the formula copies correctly, but every result is the same. 2.
However, if I go to the next cell down (G3) and activate it by pressing F2, and then hit Enter, the result changes and is now correct.
Any ideas whats going wrong?

I have cells in a column, some colored yellow, some not. I am trying to use
the SUMIF function to sum only the cells in the range that are colored. Can
this be done? Can I enter something in the "criteria" part of the formula
that can do this?
=SUMIF(D3:D13,"criteria",D3:D13)
I also tried to use the CELL function's color feature, but I couldn't get it
to work right. I don't know how to get Excel to recognize if a cell is
colored in a formula.
=CELL("color",cell)
It might just be that I don't know what this means in Help:
"color" > 1 if the cell is formatted in color for negative values;
otherwise returns 0 (zero).
Can anyone help?

I have a coworker's file that he is having trouble with. He is using Excel 2000 SP3. When copying a cell with a formula in it of "=D6+C6" and pasting it into the next cell down, it will display the same value in the cell as the calculated value from above, but has the correct formula displayed in the formula bar of "=D7+C7".
Example:
A1: 50
A2: 10
B1: 60
B2: 20
A3: Formula: =A1+A2 Displays: 60
Right click A3, Copy, right click B3, paste
A3 displays 60
When I click save, it will change the display value to 80.
I am trying this on his workstation and mine. Mine has Office 2010, so I think there might be an issue with the file itself.
Also, not just copy and paste. I can also just click the top cell after filling in the formula and then drag the bottom right of the cell downward and it will do the same of filling in the correct formula, but have the incorrect value.
I know that I could get him to just click save each time before really looking at the results, but that is just a band aid to the problem.
Any ideas how to fix this?

We have an Excel spreadsheet that sits on the network.
People need to open the file to be able to sign up for various duty rosters.
We would like for the file to open for the first person.
And then for any others after that, get a message that the file is in use
WITHOUT the option to open a readonly copy.
Our staff can't read and they keep opening additional copies of the file!
I have read about sharing the file and I don't think that would make things
any better.
Thanks,
Lynn

Hi guys,
Looking for some help and would appreciate your help. I want to prevent people cutting/copy/pasting on a spreadsheet I have developed. A couple of users keep doing so which in turn knackers my formulas. There will be occasions where I will need to be able to use these functions for maintenance and updates. Ideally I would like have a private marcro which I can run to enable these features as and when needed.
I've been at this all morning and feel like I'm going round in circles. I've tried various bits of code (sourced via google etc) & have ended up with a whole manner of outcomes but not the one I want.
To summaraise what I am looking for is some vba code which will do the following Disable cut, copy and paste when sheet is opened Enable cut, copy and paste when closed Have a macro which when run will allow me to cut/copy paste so as to implement updates when necessary.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

This is my first post in these forums.
I am trying to create a formula which will look at the data in columns A I (50 rows) and copy this data to columns K S but ignoring any blank cells. Thereby consolidating the data in the upper rows with no spaces.
I am sure there is a relativley simple answer but it is driving me mad!
Hope you "Guru's" can help
Thanks

I have a userform containing a multicolumn listbox (ListBox1) and textbox (txtSelectedJobNumber).
When a user clicks on a line in the listbox I want to automatically copy the text in the 3rd column of the selected line to the textbox.

Hi all
Im very familiar with how to write a macro to automatically autofilter a list based upon a Cell Value (i.e. Range =(A1)...etc.).... but what I cannot figure out how to correctly write is a way to have Excel automatically autofilter a list for any row that CONTAINS the Cell Value, instead of just the exact value.
Cell Value = "birds"
Example I need to filter every row so that I see every row that CONTAINS "birds" in the characterstring, not just the row that = "birds".
a) is this possible?
If not, I'd like to know also so I can stop attempting to guess (;
Thanks!!!

I am trying to do a very simple copy and paste of a simple formula in Excel 2007 and nothing seems to be working. Excel will not let me copy and paste a formula and will only paste the value into to workbook. For instance, if I make a very simple spreadsheet such as:
A1 type in 10, A2 type in =A1 (calculated A2 to be 10)
B1 type in 5
And then click the copy on B1, and then click paste special on cell B2, the only options it gives me are text and unicode text and so no matter how I paste, cell b2 will always be populated with a value of 5. I cannot imagine a simpler copy and paste and no matter what I do I can't make this work.
All cells are formatted as general. It seems that all copy and pasting of formulas in my excel has been disabled. If I open any spreadsheet on my computer, I can't copy and paste formulas, but do the exact same thing on the exact same spreadsheet on any other computer and it works no problem.
Any help?

I would like to copy a small table from Word into one cell in an Excel
worksheet. The first column of the table is a list of numbers. I tried
converting the table into text with manual line breaks and tab stops to
divide columns and rows, but that didn't solve my problem.
Excel pastes the data into several rows. When I try to merge them, I
get a warning that the selection contains multiple data values, and
merging into one cell keeps the upperleft most data only.
What I tried that didn't work:
* Formatting the Excel cells as text before pasting the data.
* The various options for "Paste Special." The closest I got was
inserting the table as a Document Object, which could be a workaround,
I guess.
What I am saving for when all else fails:
* The obvious solution of copying row by row into one Excel cell.
The data in the table is information about my dad's medications. I
would like to have reference charts of how to identify the strength of
each tablet by its color and markings. I got the info from the
manufacturers' websites and entered it into tables in Word, which I
would like to copy into a more comprehensive file I am creating in
Excel. The first column of each table is the strength of the tablet,
entered as 1 mg., 2 mg., etc. The subsequent columns describe the
shape, color, and markings. There are 3 tables, each with about 45
rows.
Is there a way to copy each one whether as a table or as text into

Hi. I have a row in a spreadsheet in Excel that is hidden but i am unable to unhide it. I have tried the usual way by hovering between the rows above and below until i get the double line but this does not happen. I have also tried going through the Format Row Unhide option but this also doesn't work. Any suggestions?
I have a graph with various information in it. One is a line graph that tracks hours used in that department per month. The problem is that when it gets to the last month, and there is not yet data for future months, the line goes down to Zero (leavin this big diagonal line that makes the data look funny). I need this line to stop on the last month there is data for. (I do not manually enter the data, it is a formula that I do not wish to delete.) I know I can manually move the data that the line is pulling to make it stop on the last month, but I have a graph for 36 different departments and that's a pain to have to manually adjust 36 graphs each month. Is there a way to tell the line to stop if there is no data? Thanks!!

Still learning VBA I am trying to delete an entire row based on a condition in one cell in the row. Typically I would just filter on that value and delete the rows, but I am not sure if that is a possibility in VBA code. Can you provide the code if not too complex.
Select Cell A1 if value is 100 delete entire row, else skip to next row. Then loop through each row in the spreadsheet till all rows with selected cell equal to 100 are deleted.

Morning all,

Hi there. I'm using Excel 2007 and often use filters to find inconsistent data (misspellings, etc.) and then clean up the data using the fill handle to fill in correctly formatted values. I'm finding that, with a simple filter on, dragging over cells hidden by the filter changes the values in the hidden cells too. This is something I don't remember from my last version of Excel. I'm wondering if I've misremembered how this control works, or if there is a setting I can't find.
My goal is to drag and fill (or paste) in a colum with a range of rows wiht some hidden (filtered out) rows, and have the filtered out data be unaffected, if that makes sense.
Thanks!
