Is there a limit to the number of stocks being updated in Excel? If so, is
there a premium service to update several thousand stocks?
Hi there,
I am trying to build a stock watchlist in excel 2007 with a dynamic link to a DDE server (paid for).
I would like to just enter the stock code in say row 1 (A3) and with each DDE data field (e.g. lastprice, open, cose, high etc) have it lookup the stock code in cell A3 and return the correct value, rather than entering 200 x 7 stock codes and DDE data fields.
The DDE server I am using is formatted like this:
PROGRAMNAMElFIELD!STOCKCODE
example
MISDATAlLASTPRICE!BHP.ASX
I thought I might be able to do something like the following, but it doesn't work:
MISDATAlLASTPRICE!$A3
Note: 1 there is no add-in, I just drag from a watchlist in the program I am using.
2 The DDE server can only be accessed while the other program is running and is password protected
Could anyone help please, I'd be very greatful
I am using the built-in excel feature to pull stock quotes off of
microsoft's site. I simply have stock symbols listed in order starting with
like cell A1000, then A1001, A1002, etc.
However, whenever I try to get it to spit out more than like ~180 quotes, it
gives me an "encountered unexpected error" message.
Can excel only do ~180 quotes from a spreadsheeet? Do I have to do multiple
spreadsheets? Seems kind of funny if so.
Also, how can I get real time quotes into excel rather than the delayed ones
off of the microsoft site?
Thanks for any help.
I cannot get the MSN Stock Quotes to work in the 2007 Beta edition of Excel.
The Add-In is loaded, but always gives me the #NA error.
Anyone have an answer? Thank you.
About 10 years ago I was able to import stock quotes from the web on a PC version of excel.
Does this capability exist in Excel 2011 for Mac?
Hello,
Just wondering if anyone might know a good way of importing historical stock data and live quotes into Excel 2003. Most of what I have saw is for the latest version of Excel and not 2003.
Thanks,
Kescco
Hi
I have made a excel sheet where i have put the names of several stocks in which i am interested. I have also used the facility of Import external data-New web query and given the Yahoo finance link
However, i am having trouble in importing the data as it says the file name should not contain ? wherein the yahoo web query contains the ? in the middle.
Is there any solution.
The surprising part is that i can edit the query and get the rates but it does not refresh, which means that i have not given the wrong path.
Also 1 out of 10 times it gets refreshed but 9 times it gives invalid web query
I shall be thankful if the members can help me out
I am attaching my Excel sheet for ready reference
Thanks
The Excel MSN Stock Quote plugin is broken again.
Yesterday, Nasdaq, options and Canadian stocks gave quotes 1,000x too high.
Today, only Canadian quotes are screwed up.
The source is MSN for the quotes, and MSN.COM has some of these 1,000x too high quotes as well.
For example, go to www.msn.ca and scroll down to the quotes and notice that the TSX quote is in the millions. Other stocks like CA:ECA are also screwed up.
S&P/TSX 11,013,010.00 - 1,002,002.00
This problem happened last week as well, and now its back, and it's 2 days long so far.
What is the problem?

Excel 2000 has a "standard" query for stocks that contains the following
URL"http://investor.msn.com/external/excel/quotes.asp. The full query is
"http://investor.msn.com/external/excel/quotes.asp?SYMBOL=["QUOTE0","Enter
stock, fund or other MS Investor symbols separated by commas."]" When the
query is run the url is not found. Presently using version 9.06926 SP-3
