Recently when I open Excel, both the rows and columns are numbers. They are
referenced R1C1, instead of A1 for row one column one. When I use Excel on
another computer and then open that saved file on mine, then it is fine. The
problem occurs when I attempt to open a new spreadsheet from my cpu.
Any suggestions? I have obviously changed a setting somehow.
Thank you.
Hi everyone,
I have a very urgent matter I need to solve.
I have an excel sheet that has columns with numbers that I want to change into letters as a code.
For example:
The key is 1=A 2=B 3=C 4=D 5=E 6=F 7=G 8=H 9=I 0=J and for a repeating number (only the first repeat) =W.
So for example if my number is 1539 = AEBI
If the numbr is 1000 = AJWJ
Can someone help me come up with some sort of formula for this?
I'm importing a 3rd party CSV file into Excel and then comparing some of
the contents to a printed spec. Each numbered field in the spec
corresponds to a column in the work sheet. I'd like to change the column
headers from letters to numbers. Is that possible?
I don't see anywhere to change this. I copied a client's spreadsheet and now
all of my Excel sheets have numbers for the columns and the rows. It is
making it hard to do formulas. Please help!
i have just opened a spreadsheet in excel, and rather than the columns
showing as A B C they are showing the same as rows, in numbers 1 2 3. This is
not normal and i can't write formulas.
My excel 2007 just started labeling the columns as numbers now (1,2,3, etc) instead of letters (A,B,C, etc). How do I fix this?
Thanks,
Nate
Hi there,
I found this link to an answer but it was related to Excel 2003 and the answer works. But I am using the newer Excel so the same answer can't help me.

A coworker asked me to help him with his excel file. He opened a file that had numbers instead of letters in the column labels, now he is seeing it in other files he linked that file to. How do you change it back? The name box even says R34C7 or R23C90 for Row and Column.
My excel columns somehow reverted to numbers instead of letters. How can I
