I know a very confusing title but that is essentially what I am trying to do. I am trying to create a pivot table coding guide for people to be able to filter down to there correct department mapping.
I am pivoting a table that has account coding that is very specific and unique. It is comprised of three separate categories that when combined together makes a code. Each category has unique values associated with it. Category 1 has about 30 different values, category 2 has several hundred values, and category 3 has about 50 different values.
What I want is when you filter on a value in category 1 it will automatically remove all of the values in the Category 2 filter that no longer apply. Then the user can see only the Category 2 values that are valid with that Category 1 value. I would do the same thing for Category 3 and so on.
The problem I am having is that when I do the filtering on Category 1 it still shows all the values in the Category 2 filter even though they do not apply to the Category 1.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks
This thread relates to this http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...ed-filter.html thread I started.
I started this new thread for clarity.
Attached is a sample worksheet. I have made it small to be practical.
Essentially what my intention was is to filter the data on "Datasheet" by class. Count the number of members in each class(used to work out averages) and create a table for each class of final results variation from average etc on another sheet. In this workbook that sheet is call "SampleOut".
Any feedback ideas on the best way to acheive this is appreciated.
Thanks

i have a task of producing a spreadsheet that asks questions and takes figures then displays them as a report.
e.g how much is your energy bill? the user types a figure, its calculated in a formula, and the results displayed in a report.
I need it set out so it looks professional and user friendly. Has anyone got any examples of well laid out user friendly colourful spreadsheets?
Would appriciate it if some one could help me.

Hi to everyone.
I'm returning to work and need practice on Excel 2003 pivot charts.
i've downloaded Bill's 2007 book and found the download for earlier version pivot chart learning; however, i can't find downloads for the earlier book.
Does anyone have the link to download Excel 2003 pivot chart examples from Bill's first book?
Thank you so much,
Randa
I have created quite a few mini excel apps/ tools to do various tasks eg querying and displaying text files, mainly for my own use and for a couple of colleagues.
While generally they do the job, they all look a bit naff and amateur.
Does anyone know of some good sample excel apps on the web that I could get some inspiration from? I'm not looking to do anything too fancy just make my spreadsheets look a little more professional.
Thanks
Pls let me know as to where i can download a pdf version of this book
