I'm working on a budget forecast where costs are budgeted in the shape of a bell-shaped curve. Costs in the middle months are greater then costs during the early or finishing months.
Say the periods occur monthly over 12 to 48 months, how can I generate a cost distribution schedule totaling 100% such that the duration and shape of the curve can be easily modified?
Once the distribution is generated I can apply this to my budget number to spread the costs.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Dear All,
Does anyone know how to create Skewed distribution charts, when knowing the mean, standard deviation and skewness ?? (For example, mean - 50, Standard deviation = 25%, skewness - 3.3)
I have no problem creating a normal distributed chart, but including skewness is not straightforward. I believe it maybe involve lognormdist function, but I am not familarly with how they function, so any explaination involving Lognormdist needs to assume I know nothing.
Thanks
Paul
Hi
I need to determine values of the tops and bottoms of a curve in a graph. In the attachment it can be seen that the data generated produce a hill/valley like pattern.
Does anyone know of a good way to determine the absolute values of the different tops and bottoms (on the y-axis). I guess you could say I am looking for the amplitudes of the curve.
The actual curve is a lot longer, hence automation is a good thing.

I am trying to make a bell curve for a class but do not know how?
Is it possible to create a bell curve chart in excel? If so, how?
I have created a bell curve in excel with the mean and std. dev. and now need
to plot the actual values as they fall along the curve. Does anyone know how
I can plot these???
how can i fit a line of best fit to some data that looks like an s-shaped curve?
i would like to know the equation for the line too.
excel seems, as far as i can tell, to only be able to fit polynomials, exponentials etc.
can anyone help out?
thanks is advance.
Is there a formula that will calculate a bell curve?
Hi everybody,
Im using Exel 2002 and I've build my density function of the Normal probability distribution and now I have to make vertical line to show exactly where is the mean of this bell-curve.
I was wondering if someone can help me with this, im not using exel very ofen..
Thank you very much!
can any one help me with customising a bell curve using excel. i already made a bell curve using sample data from microsofts help articles but i do not know how to shade/fill color inside the curve. is it actually possible using excel?
