Excel 2010 Preview #4: Pivot Table Slicer (Report/Page Filter Slicer)

last year Bill did a great podcast on the new slicer feature in Excel 2010 and I can't find it anywhere now.
Does anyone have a link to this please.

I created a very standard pivot chart to try the new Slicer feature on excel 2010 but it is unhighlighted and doesn't allow me to select it.

I have a pivot chart taht has count of assets broken out to location filtering by model type...why wouldn't it allow me to select slicer tool?

I've tried other combinations but it won't allow me to select. I've saved it from a 2003-2007 spreadsheet to a macro enabled and it still won't allow me.

Any ideas why I might be able to use this feature?

Has anyone encountered power pivot slicers that oscillate after query has been refreshed?

I have a date slicer that expands and contracts in about 30 times a min.
Annoying...have to save,close and reopen spreadsheet to purge oscillation.

Any idea what causes this?

I have created a dashboard w/ multiple pivot charts on the first sheet in a workbook. Each of these is tied to a pivottable on other worksheets in my workbook. I have 5 slicers that allow filtering of various data such as customer, vendor, part number, etc... In creating my pivottables I filter to the top 10 in order to graph in a viewer friendly format.

The problem is when I select slicer filter values, and then especially when I remove those filters, the data in my pivottables and charts becomes unmanageable because I exceed the 255 data series allowed. I have a workaround currently where I just click the error messages and then re-sort/filter the tables to again only reflect the top 10 values, but I'd like to find a setting or VBA module that would allow me to do this as part of the slicer change in value and therefore the end user wouldn't see the error.

Is there some kind of event handler for a slicer filter value change I could use to do this before the pivottable is refreshed or something to stop this from happening?

I have a beta version of Excel 2010. I had gone through the Podcast of Mr Excel No. 1067 where he talks about slicers. In my PC, the Insert Slicer Option is disabled. How can I enable it.

I have a PivotTable creatively named "General Reports", with a Slicer for "Year", which is a value ranging from 1 through 5. Is there a way for me to access the actual years being shown, so that I could have a caption above the table saying, for example: "Year 2" or "Years 2 & 3", or "All Years"? At the moment, the PivotTable doesn't show the "Year" field, it exists only in the source table. I can include it, if necessary.

Does anyone know of a way to manually change the apperance order for PowerPivot Slicer buttons?
Example:
I have the following values comming through my Slicer: "N","NULL", & "Y".
The only options that I can find are to order as it is above, or in reverse alphabetical order: "Y", "NULL", & "N". I would like to order it "Y","N", & "NULL".

I would like to use this on other slicers taht I have built with 7+ buttons, so if there was a way that I could manually sort that would be great.

Working with excel 2010. I have 4 pivot charts, all of which work off of copies of the same pivot table, with different filters applied. I've added a slicer and linked it to all 4 pivot tables.

This all works great and does exactly what I want it to do unless I use slicer and pick filters that filter out all the data for a given chart, the chart doesn't just display no values (like I want it to do). It completely disappears until I again select filters that have data that goes in that chart.

This is going to go into a dashboard and I find having a blank area where a graph should be is really aesthetically unappealing.

Is there any way to keep all the graphs visible and just have them display no values if all of their values disappear?
