I want to create a spreadsheet that measures confidence intervals for my advertising. The idea is that to my test webpage, I would have X number of visitors to version A and Y number of visitors to version B. Version A will results in N sales, version B will have M sales.
What I want to do is create a spreadsheet that can tell me with 95% confidence which page sells better.
Thanks,
Jon
Hi all,
Attached is a document where I need to calculate the 95% confidence interval for the stock prices in 1 year. If anyone could provide some help, it would be appreciated.
Thank you,
S.
Does Solver provide confidence intervals around its parameter estimates?
I wonder if it can be done....
At the moment I have a set of control charts with confidence intervals set at 95% (1.96 times standard deviation). What I'd like to do is for the user to be able to set a confidence interval, say 80% and for this to be automatically shown on the chart.
Plotting it to the chart is the easy bit(!) but does anyone know if this can be done - some sort of formula to amend the multiplier based on the Normal Distribution based on the confidence interval required.
Thanks
Robert
Two questions regarding ranking in Excel 2007...
I have a large list of data and would like to produce a rank column (ordered by salary). I would like the ranks to only compare those salaries that have the same traits in other columns. For instance, I have one column with year (2004-2007) and another column with position (baseball positions such as P, 1B, 2B, SS, OF, etc), and finally another column that says whether the player is on his rookie contract ("rookie" or "veteran"). What I would like to do is automatically come up with a salary rank for all rookie pitchers in 2006 (and the same for every other combination). I know I can easily do this by sorting, but the list is long and I would like it to automatically adjust when a salary changes. Thanks for your help on that.
My second question also has to do with ranking this baseball project. In the same sheet as above, there is a column that is a statistical score ("OPS", which is a combination of two other baseball stats). Again, I would like to rank similar players (i.e. other OF's in the same year, on the same contract) by OPS, but this time, I would also like to add a "high" and "low" rank based on some error/confidence interval. Let's say there are five OF's that are on their rookie contracts in the same year (so I would like them to be part of the same list)...First, I would like to rank them by OPS (that should be the same as my above question). Next, I would like to create columns that give a "maximum" and "minimum" type rank. Here's how I imagine it...
The stat "error" is .030
To compute the "high rank" we add .030 to the OPS and see where the player would now rank. For "low rank" we subtract .030. Numbers in parentheses are what rank is based on (I don't actually need those to show up).
PLAYER OPS RANK HIGH RANK LOW RANK
A .773 4 4 (.803) 5 (.743)
B .849 1 1 (.879) 3 (.819)
C .835 2 1 (.865) 3 (.805)
D .754 5 4 (.784) 5 (.704)
E .822 3 1 (.852) 3 (.792)
Sorry that I lack the skill to post an actual spreadsheet. Thanks so much for your help...this problem has been bugging me for weeks.
Hello excel gurus
I have means from two different data sets that I would like to plot by age in the same chart, with upper and lower bound CI for each mean. I've read the other posts but they don't seem to directly apply because in those cases it seems that they needed to have the 95% CI calculated based on the trendline whereas I already have the values I would like to use.
This is what I'm trying to do but with different data:
I inherited this as a jpeg and can't work backwards to figure out what this person did. Any help would be very much appreciated!
I have an xls file. I open up in Excel 2007, the print preview looks fine: margin looks right
But when I open the same file in Excel 2010, the print preview doesn't look right.
It's like everything gets shifted to the left and has the wide margin on the right hand side.
Anybody knows what's causing the problem in 2010?
Thanks in advance.
I am having a problem with the new version of Excel 2010. These documents will show up correctly, then when viewed in the print preview window be wrong. I have re-opened these files in older versions ( Excel 2007 and Excel 2003) and they display correctly and print correctly. In the new version of excel the text in the "Combo Boxes" are changing font size upon printing. This even holds true for the print preview window. I have also tried this on another computer which has Excel 2010 and I have the same problem. Here are some links to view the problem I've been having. Any help would greatly be appreciated!
This is a picture of the printing error.

This is a picture of what it should look like when printed correctly.

Can someone show me a real life Excel 2007 example of how and when to use CONFIDENCE?
