hello,
I am using the camera tool to display in worksheet B a chart that is created in worksheet A. the camera tools works well but the image is extremely pixelated... (the lines are not smooth at all, the dotted lines -gridlines- are extremely ugly too etcetc)
does anybody know why? is there a way to fix this?
I am using excel 2007
thx!
Hello,
Can anyone tell me whether the workaround to create a transparent "click through picture" doesn't work in 2003?
I have used this before but have tried today and can't get it to work.
(the workaround is to save the file as excel 5/95 and then re save as 2003)
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I am developing a Dashboard excel file which has multiple worksheets (approx. 24 sheets). I am using the camera tool to create pictures of my data and text to be displayed on my dashboard sheet.
As I create each dashboard worksheet, I notice a drastic change in the performance of the excel workbook. I have switched "Calculation" to "Manual", yet this has not resolved my performance issue.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Ruan
So what's so special about the Excel camera tool? To me, copy and paste do the same thing. What else can it do that Copy cannot?
I stumbled across this article on John Walkenbach's site a while ago, and sorta filed it away for future reference. At the time, it seemed like one of those obscure tools that you wouldn't have much use for, until you REALLY needed it... if ever
I finally found a use for this tool, in an application where nothing else seemed to do the trick (except VBA code, which I wanted to avoid for a variety of reasons).
Most of us have at least played with Dynamic Charts (using Dynamic Named Ranges) enough to understand how they work. Well, I built a simple one yesterday, for my boss to use while I am on vacation. All he needs to do is paste in the data, and the graph updates to the new data, regardless of how many rows are in the data set. Fine. But what about the Text Box on the graph the summarizes a few parameters of the data (Maximum, Minimum, Etc). Normally, this info would need to be copied from the Worksheet Cells, and pasted/input manually. Instead, I devoted several cells to formulaically generate the full text of the Text Box, based on the calculated values. Then I inserted a Linked Picture of those cells to replace the static Text Box on the graph. SLICK! :o
So anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has had any neat applications of the Camera Tool.
I have several camera inserts on a summary worksheet. There are several worksheets that have several arrays of information being captured. The information on the subsidiary sheet is updating correctly, but when I go to the summary sheet, the camera shot has old information.
I have the calculation set to automatic, and I can change the info on the subsidiary sheet, but cannot get the camera shot to update.
What am I missing???
Hi,
is there a way in Excel 2003 to keep a dynamic picture created with the Camera Tool always on the screen?
When I scroll away I do not see the Camera Picture anymore.
This makes the entire Camera Tool quite useless in large sheets.
Does anyone know a solution for this?
Or is there even a way to keep it on the screen even when changing the worksheet?
regards
I have a spreadsheet that updates and saves off sequentially based on a list of names. I have a graph that I use the camera tool for on a summary page. I would like to program the camera object to look for a specific cell range based on a single cell value in the spreadsheet. Is this possible??
