Excel Statistics 30: Scatter Diagram for 2 Quantitative Variables

Can anybody help me with the following:

I have a scatter diagram and want to be able to link the colour of the marker to the data. For example:

NAME X y COLOUR
name1 10 20 red
name2 12 15 blue
name3 12 20 red
name4 15 20 blue

I have used Appspro Chart Labeller to add the 'NAME' to the marker, but require the markers to be coloured. I have hundreds of lines of data and so doing this manually isnt practical.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been trying to highlight a series of cells & get Excel to draw a scatter diagram, where each point on the scatter ( i.e. a group of two numbers...eg 2, 9 ) can show the label name. I want every point in the scatter to have a unique name.

However Exel only allows me to show the series name against each point & not the unique name thats shown on the worksheet ( eg...London rainfall, or Manchester rainfall ).

I found that I can acheive this using a separate data-series for each 'point', but its a very manual solution, as its necessary to enter the three peices of data one by one. I cant find a way to simply highlight my data range & have excel assign cell A as the 'point name', cell B as the first data point & cell C as the second data point in a long series of similar cells.

Any thoughts ?

I have a part number with value and qty. When I hover over the data point of value/qty I am able to see the series point containing the part number of the data being charted. How can I cause the series data point to always show where I can print and see the data point part number?

I have tried to plot a graph I need using the scatter graph but I cannot achieve the desired result and wondered where I am going wrong.

I have simplified my example to save explaining the data I am working with!

Let's say I have a list of 10 peoples names and have recorded their height in CM and weight in KG. I want to plot the name of each individual on a chart by referencing their height off an x-axis and their weight off a y-axis. Where the two values intersect I would like a dot labelled with their name.

I have tried doing this in Excel but keep getting a series of plots for weight and then a different set for height. Any idea how I get round this?

I have a XR Bar Chart where the samle average is based on 5 entries. There are 40 samples on the chart. I use this chart in real time and I need it to populate my XY Scatter Diagram as the data is populated. My problem is that sample average formulas in the XR Bar Chart are plotted as zero on the XY Scatter Diagram. This is a problem because XY Scatter Diagram also plots 3 other series (target, upper control and lower control) and the XY Scatter Diagram is not readable until all of the sample poplulation is entered. I am asking my employees to look at the chart and make adjustments when there is a negative trend. I have tried everything I can think of, any suggestion would be great.

Hi guys I'm having some serious Excel graph trouble thats driving me nuts. Basically I have two sets of data results for a set of 18 companies, (I've rated them on a serious of criteria and come up with these final numbers) and would like to plot both numbers on a scatter diagram with one point for each company. I'll try and explain a bit better in the screenshot below:

So for the e xample company OSC, they score 19 on stage one and 14 on stage two, so the companys symbol ends where these points meet.

Any help would be great thanks.

I have Customer Satisfaction Scores (3 years of scores per customer) and Revenue (3 years of $ per customer). How can I find a possible correlation between satisfaction scores to revenue - ie. over time if they increase does that mean more revenue?

Hello everyone,

Newbie here with what I hope is a simple question. I want to display a scatter diagram to illustrate how two sets of discrete data are correlated. The issue is that I have several occurences of identical data points, (for example, x=5, y=6 occurs three times.)

The Excel XY function overlays the identical points so I loose the visual impact. Any suggestions for how I show that there are 3 occurences of this point?

I have three columns of data. In column 2 = x data, column 3 = y data and then I want column 1 to = data label. At the moment the data label is the y data, any advice on how to do this?
