My personal workbook is stacked with keyboard shortcuts... I don't have many left for any other macros. If I create a new macro enabled workbook, is there a way to override my personal keyboard shortcuts with the new macros that are specific to the new book. I don't need to use all the keyboard shortcuts with my personal book for the new workbook.
Background Info:
I have to repeatedly create specific names in an Excel worksheet. These worksheets are laid out with specific formatting, so I cannot change the layout or add cells, etc. All I need to do is add cell names, by mouse clicking on a cell (1x1 in size) then mouse clicking in the "name box" then entering the name I want. I then press "Enter" on the keyboard and then "Tab" or "Enter" to go to the next cell I want.
The Problem:
Once I have a cell selected, I cannot use the keyboard to get my cursor into the "name box". I have to use the mouse to click in the "name box". It slows me down. I don't want to use the mouse. Is there a keyboard shortcut that will move the cursor into the name box so I can simply type the name of the cell (essentially naming the cell)? I then press "Enter" or "Tab" to the next cell, hit the shortcut again, then enter the next cell name to define it, repeat that process a gazzillion times. I know there are shortcuts to creating named cells like CTRL-SHIFT-F3, but these names are not what I want. I have very specific names for each cell, not the auto created names that Excel will create for you.
Please Help!!!!! Thank you soooooo much in advace for replying.

...the 'fit all columns' functionality?
Hi, sorry for not greeting you people before.
I mean that command in which you click at the top-left "cell" (between A and 1, the point they would cross) and then double-click the separator between columns A and B. When done, all data in the current sheet will be used as limits to resize the columns sizes.
Is there a shortcut to do that without the mouse?
Thanks!

We know the keyboard shortcut for selecting the total column (CTRL+spacebar).
once when i was using this, some how it got removed. Can any one of you
helpme how to get the shortcut back. Also share some information about
assigning or removing keyboard shortcuts in excel.
I just switched to Excel 2007 recently. My question is... is there a keyboard shortcut to check/uncheck the boxes in the filter list?
Thanks!
I know that you can use Ctrl+[ to link to a cell automatically where a formula might be in use. What is the keystroke combination to go back to the original cell?
This keystroke combination doesn't normally show up on any shortcut list, so please don't suggest I go to Help and click on keyboard shortcuts. This seems to be one that is not documented or else is a customer generated shortcut. If that is the case and there is a way to create a custom shortcut to enable this process, please let me know how to do this. I am not as proficient in Excel as I would like to be, which is the reason I am asking for help.
I am using Excel 2003.
Thanks!
What is the shortcut to move to the beginning of the next row?
thank you
Hi everyone..
I'm constantly double clicking cells in the lower right corner, in order to copy the contents acording to the adjacent coloumn. I'm double clicking the right corner when it looks like a perfect cross-hair.
Does anyone know the keyboard short cut for this?!?!?
I will be eternally grateful
Hi,
Hopefully a straightforward question.
When editing a formula, Excel automatically provides a drop-down list of Range Names that match the characters you have typed.
Is there a key you can press to use the highlighted name. I've tried all sorts of variations, but with no luck, so I'm having to double-click the required name.
Thanks
Steve
