Hi. I need to perform a linear regression based on some data I have, in order to give me a line of best fit (on a chart) and also to compute the relevant equation. Can anyone tell me how to do this on Excel 2002?
Can someone assist with setting up an excel estimator? I have already run the regression but do not remember how to apply the log to the equation.
The equation is: y = 0.4741Ln(x) - 4.833.

they were able to put an exponential regression on to the data of the us census back to 1790 and they did it to the T. amazing. i can't figure out how they did it.
all's it says is
The usual method for fitting an exponential function, y = aebx, to data is to take logarithms of the y data and perform linear regression on the new data. This action was performed on the data above and the results are tabulated below.
i don't know what they mean.
i'm trying to use this function for a graph that goes up and down, not just up. can anyone help me out here, i would really appreciate it.
hi.. does anyone know how to plot a linear regression line? i have a scatter graph with many points and i want to draw a best fit straight line. i also need to know the gradient and y-intercept of the line. is it possible to do it on excel? i need help quick!!!!!
I have a set of data. I know how to do linear regression over the whole set of data. How do I have another linear regression over the first 5 points in the set of data on the same graph ?? I am using Excel 2007
Kinda urgent for my lab report. Thanks for your help
I plotted a scatergraph on excel of percentage increase in blood conc of a drug=(y) vs increase in in vitro drug concn on (x) axis and then plotted the graph increase in blood conc of a drug=(x) vs increase in in vitro drug concn on (y) axis . Using the linear regression equation I find that when increase in blood conc of a drug=(y) vs increase in in vitro drug concn on (x) axis x=.1 y=42 but when increase in blood conc of a drug=(x) vs increase in in vitro drug concn on (y) axis x=25 and y=.1.
i.e. if I used the line of best fit to estimate data points I would get different data points depending on which of the two variables was on the x axis, is this usual???
Hello everyone, first post he
I have 10 pages of data, all the same sizes of data. Basicaly, each page has 365 days of the year, with hourly temperature data for 24 hours. I want to run a linear regression through the same cell of the 10 pages. The intuitive function of : =LINEST(page1:page10!A1) doesn't work. My guess because it freaks over the lack of "x-values", which...is just laziness on microsoft's part. Anyway, does anyone know how to do this other than make one massive page of 365x24x10 numbers?
-Thanks-
Hi - I'm struggling with the math\function used in linear regression forecasting in Excel.
I have 8 qtrs of revenue (8 columns). I want to use linear regression to forecast into the next 8 qtrs (ending with 16 columns total - 8 actual, 8 forecast). Is there a, excel formulas I can use.
For simplicity, let's assume the data is in row 4...the actuals are in b through I and I want to forecast into J through Q.
Thanks!

Hi, All - I want to work with linear regression lines and R-squared output on forex price data and I'm having trouble understanding what the "Known X's" input is that the function requires.....I can see where the "Known Y's" would be the price series I'm looking at...in this case, the closes for a specific currency pair at the end of each 24-hour time session, but I can't figure out the "X's".....R-squared requires the same data so if I can figure it out for the regression line then I'm set...
I appreciate any help!
Thanks,
Rick
Can someone tell me how to construct a linear regression chart please.
