How do I remove the integer from a number and retain the decimal fraction
portion (123.45 would yield 0.45)
How to convert deciminal ranging from .25 to 6.3125 into fractions
Hi, New here, hello everybody,
Here goes,, I am working on a simple calculater, what I want to do is figure sq. inches my problem is every thing I try the decimals won't calculate right,, this is a example of what I want to do
8.25x10.75= 81 sq"
Don't have a clue how to make this work any help would be great.
I am working in excel 2003
Thanks
Roger
Could someone please tell me what is wrong with this formula. I have been looking at it for so long, I can't even concentrate.
=IF(INT(BoardLength/12)>0, INT(BoardLength/12)&"' ","") & INT(MOD(BoardLength,12)) & "" & IF(INT(BoardLength)<>(BoardLength), " " & TEXT(ROUND((FirstRise - INT(BoardLength/12) * 12 - INT(MOD(BoardLength,12)))*16,0) / 16, "##/??"), "")&""""
When BoardLength is equal to "36.535003794...." I get this as a result from the above equation: 3' 0 -481/16
I am guess it is something simple but I can't seem to figure it out.
Thanks a lot
Mark
Is it possible to convert decimals to fractions in Excel?
Without using VBA would be ideal, but if thats the path, then so be it.
Thanks yall!

Does anybodt know the formula to convert a fraction to a decimal? Each fraction could be a whole number or a fraction like it could be 17-3/8 or 89-1/2. I'm trying to convert this number over to a decimal so the 89-1/2 would show as 89.5 and the 17-3/8 would show as 17.375.

Excel 2003
hi all,
i have the following column:
15' 0
21' 4 1/2
9' 10
is there a way i could get it separate into two columns like
15 0
21 4.5
9 10
thanks!
I am joining two columns of data.
first col. has size in fraction format: 7 3/8
second column has text string:
HABITAT CINCY POD HAT ERA BLK/RD
Concatenate=
HABITAT CINCY POD HAT ERA BLK/RD 7.375
Changing fraction to decimal, needs to remain fraction.
I have played w/ the formatting to make Number w/ zero decimal places and then selected Fraction, but no luck there.
Any ideas?
thx,
ds
In Excel 2007 if i enter a formula as a fraction Excel converts that to a decimal. eg if I enter =7/35 Excel records this 0.2.
How can I get Excel to display this formula as the fraction which I entered
Thanks in advance
