Highlighting A Row With A Certain Date

I am trying to use conditional formatting to call attention to a row that contains the current date. I can easily highlight a cell containing the date, but is there an easy way to highlight the entire row, and not just the cell?

Would it be easier to use a macro? I also know that I can sort my table and manually highlight the rows, but I don't want to have to sort the table each time.

Thank you for your help!

Hello.

In my spreadsheet, cell A1 is always todays date =TODAY()
I have every cell in column A (except A2 and A3) to highlight green when their date matches the current date. However, I would like for all cells in that row, B through N to highlight the same color when the date in A matches the date in A1.

I know how to do conditional formatting, but I have not done something like this before. I also want to remove any highlighting when the dates do not match...

Thanks

Hello all,

The subject line pretty much describes what I want to do. Ive read a ton online and for whatever reason I cant seem to get it to work. No problems getting it to highlight a single cell but I would like to get the entire row. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Attached is what I have so far.

For clarification for those who cant download the example right now, the cell with the date currently is set to color itself red if the date is within 30 days from now, and yellow if its between 30 and 60. I would like the entire row to highlight instead of just that cell.

I want highlight the entire row or particular cell.
I have columns called permit no., description, requester, date requested validity, approved and permit opened. . I want highlight the entire row or particular cell if the permit is not opened 7 days from the date of approval. Is it also possible to highlight with flashing text.

A sample excel file is attached

Hi,
I have a spreadsheet with a bunch of columns (with corresponding rows) with one column being dates. I need a vba macro to check if the dates in the column are after today's date. If so, then I want to highlight the entire row in a certain color, say yellow. The date column is the last column on the right so the highlighting would be done from column A to the date column (column G). I can use conditional formatting but it only highlights that one (date) cell that meets the condition, not the entire row.

I just stumbled across this site recently and found it very informative! I just couldn't find a post that relates to my problem.

Thanks!

Hello,

I have a column of dates that needs to be compared current date and
highlighted if the date is less that today's date.

The dates were populated in a general non-specific format (below) and vary
in length. My plan was to create a macro, that uses conditional formatting
to say; if the cell date is less than today's date highlight it yellow. I
am not finding this to be an easy task! Anyhow, after creating the
conditional formatting; I apply it the column by using a past special, then
lastly apply a format to the entire column of dates as DATE "*3/14/2001".
What happens really doesn't work like expected. The date reverses itself in
the format of 05/31/2006 without applying any highlight for the conditional
format. Does anyone know how, I can get this to work? I don't mind the
date being reversed, but it's not being recognized or highlighted from the
conditional formatting. Help!

The column below should have two dates highlighted in yellow (second and
last).

I need a macro that will highlight cells D to CY in the current row.
D to CY (1 to 100) relates to the cells that the stock in written in for each row.
I need to quickly be able to highlight these cells so that I can use the sort tool to sort the stock numerically in size order.
Otherwise I have to scroll all the way from C to CY which is 100 cells across and then highlight to sort, which is very time consuming when I have 500 rows of stock to sort.
There must be a way of quickly using a macro to highlight the required cells in the current row, like now the cursor is in row 1002 so I want it to highlight cells D to CY in row 1002.
If the cursor was in 1006 for example I would want it to highlight D to CY in row 1006.

Or is there any way to exclude column a, b, c when I click on the excel row heading (on the far left of page) so that only column D onwards to the right are selected?

Can anyone put me out of my misery?
Thanks

I have a spreadsheet that can have up to 1500 line items. Beginning on Row #7, for each row, I need to compare a date in column G of each row, with Today's Date located in cell D4. If the date in column G is less than D4 AND the adjacent cell in column H is Null (empty) THEN Highlight same row Range A#:Z#. I've used conditional formatting before but it won't accept AND or OR statements, And I stink at Loops. I think the logic is: "For Each Row, IF G# < D4 AND H# is NULL, THEN Highlight RANGE A#:Z#, Next Row". I just can't get it into the macro code correctly. Any tips would be appreciated.

Perhaps I'm expecting too much from Excel, but I'm trying to use conditional formatting and a lookup to correlate an on-call duty roster with a phone list.

What I'm trying to do is define conditional formatting so that:

1. If Column A contains a date in the current week, highlight the cells on the correct line of the duty roster, and

2. If the names in the highlighted row appear in the phone list, highlight them.

At the moment, I can only get the cell with a date occurring in this week to highlight using the wizard.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm looking for a formula that will use the =IF(NOW()=DATEVALUE formula to check the current date and highlight a field if the current date is within 7 days of a date entered.

Example:
date entered = 12th.
If current date = 5th - 11th, then highlight = yellow
If current date = 12th, then highlight = green
if current date = 13th - 20th, then highlight = red

Is this even partly possible, and if so, how?

I am trying to write a macro that uses conditional formatting on my data (which is columns A to AE wide, and varying rows deep) to highlight an entire row (from A to AE) if there is a cell in the row which is highlighted.

ie. I have conditional formatting set on different columns to highlight cells with errors and cells that are blank. What I would like is to have the entire row highlighted if highlighting already occurs on a cell in that row.

Is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks!!

im using the conditional formatting to highlight an entire row ->

im using

=$F3=today() to highlight yellow it if F3 hits todays date

ive set another conditional format up with

=$H3=today() to highlight red when it hits this date

i know im nearly there but i want the yellow to highlight until we hit red the period is 11 days and then stay red permanently

Is this possible

Again help much appreciated

To all, (Excel 2010)
Apologies if this is already answered elsewhere but I have searched for my answer here and throughout Google Land. I am sure this is very easily accomplished by others so here is my questions: I do not want to have to use the VBA coding thing to reach my goal. I have multiple rows of "Features of Work" that span from A2 to F2-G2 where the start date is F2 and the Finish Date is G2. (Note: This is a construction schedule pulled from P6) I want the entire row to highlight from A2 to E2 when F2 (Start Date) is TODAY OR GREATER. I was able to do so with a single row (although it wont highlight the accounting or percentage columns?) but I need it for the whole sheet. Do I have to apply a conditional format to each row? That would take forever and may slow the file down?

Thanks to you all from FREEZING ALASKA!

I am having problems with excel when I am input dates.

For example, if I input 17/01/11 into a cell, sometimes it appears as 01/17/11 or 17 01 11 or ###########

1) Is there a way so that what ever I input will be the same forever? For example if I input 17/01/11 is will appear as 17/01/11. If I input 17 Jan 11, it will appear as 17 Jan 11. I want to prevent excel from auto changing to other formats

2) I want to search the cell that contains the word Jan (or other months). So after searching I want to highlight the cell (or maybe if possible highlight the row) so that I can easily identify the rows with Jan. How can I do it?

3) Is there a way to sort rows by date? In my sheet, every row has a column that contains a date and there is another column that has a number for each row,
Somtimes I want to sort by date Jan on top most and Dec bottom most and sometimes I want to sort the row with the number 1 on top most and row with number 100 at the bottom most.
(Please advise me what is the best format to to enter dates as if I want to sort it frequently, I think format like 17/01/11 is more confusing as the date and month might be messed up. 17 Jan 11 looks better)

Thanks a lot.

Hi I have an excel spreadsheet (issues tracking log), that contains a column for 'Due Date' and a 'Date Closed' column. I would like to color code the rows to differntiate rows that contain issues that are closed, past due, and coming due, as below:

1. Closed, rows that have a value for 'Date Closed", I want to highlight (color-fill) grey ( grey out).

2, Past Due, rows that do not have a value for "date Closed" and for which the Due Date is in the past, I want to highlight red.

3, Coming Due, Rows whos target date is today or next 3 days, I want to highlight yellow.

I want to highlight the entire row, not just the cell according to the above criteria. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I am quite a novice with Excel 2007, but I will try to explain what I want to do. I am manually going through rows of numbers and assigning conditional formatting rules. For example, row A may be to highlight number values less than 7, row B may be highlight number values greater than 15, etc. There are probably 300 rows I have to go through, all with various conditions. When I try to copy the worksheet and sort it by different columns, the conditional formatting does not carry over and it becomes a mess. Is there a way to sort it without losing the formatting?

Also, when I insert new lines, the formatting from the previous line carries down and I have to clear it. Is there a way to insert rows without the formatting being applied? Thanks in advance for your help! Melissa

Hello All,

This may have a fairly easy solution but I am an intermediate Excel user so I am not fully versed in some of the more detailed formulas.

I hate two table side by side on the same worksheet.

Table 1 has columns:
Item Sales order # Quantity Expected Delivery Date
Table 2 has columns:
Item Sales order # Quantity Expected ship date
Table 2 is when I am expecting to receive the said items and quantities and table 1 is when customer a is expecting me to deliver the same items and quantity.

For each row in table 1, I want to highlight it if the expected ship date in table 2 is later than the expected delivery date in table 1. But since I can have multiple entries of the same sales order in table 2, I need this conditional formating to take into account the following.

Highlight row in table 1 if:
Item Sales order #
Then select the latest date in table 2 (date in time, not in sequence) and if the latest date in table 2 is later than the date in table 1, highlight the row in table 1 in red.

I would prefer to do this using formulas please. I really appreciate any feedback anyone has on this.

I want to highlight an entire column based on whether a cell in that column is equal to today's date.

I know how to write a loop that cycles through all of the columns until it finds today's date and then modify the column's properties, I was wondering if there was an easier way to do it. Also, I want the highlighting to be temporary meaning it should not save.

Any ideas?

Column A is the date logged. Column B has a customer name. Column C is a debit column for charges. Column D is a credit column for payments. I have to keep the entries by date and do a separate line entry for each debit and credit. Is the a way to apply a conditional format to highlight the debit and credit in yellow when they are equal and match the customer by name? I can sort and highlight, or highlight manually as I go, but I just thought it might be great to have excel do it automatically. I've tried several formulas, but no luck.
Thanks for your help!

I hope I am posting this in the right section. I am working on an excel sheet and need it to highlight a row once a date is populated into a cell. ie the sheet has rows that starts at b1 and goes thru n2. I have conditional formating set up on cells in that range to highlight green when anything is populated in (using greater then 0) but now when I populate m2 with a date I would like the whole row from b2-m2 to change to a highlight color of blue. Is this possible and would it be done with conditional formating or something else. Thank you.

I have a spreadsheet with one column. For example, it contains

A
A
A
A
B
B
C
C
C
D
D

I want to highlight the A's and don't highlight the B's and then highlight the C's and then don't highlight the D's and so on. I want to highlight or not highlight the entire row. How can I do that?

I can only seem to find info on this where there is a specific date range or they only want to highlight an individual cell.

I currently have this as my formula which highlights the entire row if the date in cell "T" is exactly 14 days from today's date, but not between, i.e. today it would highlight only dates that have 6/30/2011. I need it to highlight the entire row if the date falls between TODAY() and 14 days from today.

=INDIRECT("T"&ROW())=DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),MONTH(TODAY()),DAY(TODAY())+14)

I know it's close, just need to know where/what to add to it.

Thanks!

Toni

I have a spreadsheet with dates starting in Cell H57. I would like to conditionally format from that cell down onthe following conditions:

If date is between 3 and 7 days, highlight green
If date is between 8 and 15 days, highlight yellow
If date is equal or greater than 16 days, highlight orange.

Can I do this in the formula conditional formatting?

Thanks!!

I was able to highlight some cells using conditional formationg.
Unfrotunately the cells are not next to ehac other (there are blank
cells in the middle). Since I don't need those blank cells I can just
delete them or sort the column so all the cells with information move
to the top, the problem is that when I finish sorting and the cells
move up I lose the format I applied on conditional formatting.

is there any other way to apply format (change color) to a cell
depending on 2 other cells?

This is what I have:
Highlight in bold row 2 if A2 -a date- is between A1 -date #1- and
A2 -date#2-

However I want to maintain that format (bold highlight) even if I move
A2 to a separate column. Does it make sense?
